Why ‘Little Women’ Still Inspires Us in 2025 | Sisterhood, Sacrifice & Timeless Lessons

WHY LITTLE WOMEN STILL INSPIRES READERS TODAY…

Sisterhood, ambition, and sacrifice – the March sisters’ lessons still resonate in 2025 ….

Hi, everyone, and welcome!

This month our book club dived into one of the most beloved classics of all time: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

This book has been cherished for generations,

but for us, it became even more special recently when we had the chance to visit Louisa May Alcott’s home in concord, Massachusetts.

Standing in the very rooms where she lived

and wrote gave us such a vivid sense of how personal this story was for her – it’s not just fiction, it’s her family’s life woven into a novel.

What we love about Little Women

is how timeless it feels, even though it was first published in 1869. The struggles, the joys, the relationships between sisters, and the choices each one makes – they still speak to us today. And of course, everyone has an opinion about Jo, Laurie, Meg, Beth, Amy ….and whether Alcott got their endings, “right”.

We talked about all of that: which March sister we connected to, how the book holds up in 2025, and of course the age-old debate – Team Laurie or Team Professor Bhaer.

What struck us, even after more than 150 years, is how Louisa May Alcott captured the everyday struggles of growing up, of figuring out who you are, and of making choices that shape your life.

Hearing everyone’s perspectives –

whether you’re Team Laurie or Team Professor Bhaer, a Jo at heart or an Amy in spirit – reminds us of why book clubs matter – we don’t just read the same words, we discover new meanings together – spirited, funny, and deeply thoughtful.

We hope this discussion inspires you

to revisit the March sisters with fresh eyes. The ambition, sacrifices, and relationships that shaped the March sisters are the same themes we grapple with today.to revisit the March sisters with fresh eyes.
